Tips and tricks

Some tips and tricks to help you get ready for your big event

Skin care
Now is the time to start indulging in facials and taking care of your skin - the earlier the better! Book regular appointments at your beauty salon or do it yourself at home.
  • Ensure you are exfoliating regularly and keeping up the moisture at both day and night.
  • Don't forget your eyes and lips, apply an eye cream morning and night to keep the crows feet away.
  • When exfoliating your face you can also gently exfoliate lips, gently rid this area of dry skin for a smooth glossy finish to your lip. Moisturize lips with a balm such as paw paw ointment or lanoline (avoid vaseline and lip glosses for this as most are made from petrolium and tend to dry the lips out rather than moisturise them and generally are good only for cosmetic purposes)
Beauty treatments
  • Eyebrows frame your face, ensure that you have them tidied regularly leading up to the wedding to ensure that you have a shape you are happy with. Have a wax two to three days prior to your special day. Don't leave it to the day before in case there is any swelling or redness.
  • You may wish to also get them tinted. If you are fair in colouring I recommend tinting to both eyebrows and lashes two to three days before the wedding.
  • Spray tan - A spray tan is a good investment for any bridal party this should be done two days before the wedding - any longer and the tan can fade or flake depending on the quality, however you will need to give the tan time to fully develop and if need be, rid yourself of any lines. Make sure you prepare your body properly for the tan and follow the instructions of beauty therapist when you book your appointment.
  • Manicures/pedicures - do these at home or at a salon.Regular moisturising with hand cream each morning and night will keep your hands and nails in great shape. If you have trouble growing you may want to think about getting artificial nails. I recommend getting these done a few days before the wedding so you have time to get used to longer nails.
Night before
  • Exfoliate (this can be left to the morning of the wedding if need be)
  • Moisturise to keep skin smooth and supple.
  • Ensure your face is clear of make up including waterproof mascara and eyeliner
  • Try to avoid too much alcohol - it dehydrates the skin and can effect the longevity of your make up.
  • Nails: If you haven't visited a manicurist now is the time to paint your fingernails and toenails - don't leave this to the day there is usually a lot of activity and they'll only end up smudged.
  • Rest up!
